So I think I might have a slight online shopping problem. More specifically an online Sephora shopping problem and with the recent biannual sale I made sure to use that coveted discount well. I ended up making three different orders but in my defense it was over two separate weekends.
So what did I buy, though I feel like it’s more what didn’t I buy? Well like most that know the Sephora sales are a time to not only stock up on products you know you’ll use, you know the ever important backup to favorite products but also products that I’ve been wanting to try. I should also add the sale is the time to buy expensive items because any kind of discount is better than buying when there is no discount. So I thought I would break down my orders.
Order 1: Sephora Collection Perfection Mist Airbrush foundation (basically an aerosol spray foundation) in Fair, Drunk Elephant TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum, Drunk Elephant Lippe Balm, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Diffused Bronze.
So I have been wanting to try a spray foundation for a long time. I remember the makeup artist on TLC’s Was Not To Wear, Carmindy always using spray foundation and since then it always has intrigued me. The only problem it isn’t something that is made by a lot of brands. The only one that I know of off the top of my head is the Dior Airflash foundation, which comes with a hefty price of $62. With the Sephora Collection Perfection Air Mist foundation being half the price I thougt this was the perfect opportunity to try this type of product. Also I had heard Stassi from Vanderpump Rules rave about this foundation. I don’t normally buy products reality stars recommend but Stassi has mentioned that this foundation has even worked well at concealing any issues with her Psoriasis. Not to mention in the last few episodes Vanderpump Rules I have notice a lot of girls also use this foundation also.
The Drunk Elephant TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum is a product that unfortunately is super expensive but one that is worth the price. I honestly feel this serum has helped my skin so much by making the texture more smooth and helping to shrink my pores. This was the perfect opportunity to buy a backup since I’m pretty sure I will be running out soon. I also wanted to try the Drunk Elephant Lippie. I feel like I have been on the hunt for a good lip balm from Sephora. Since I love most of Drunk Elephant’s product I thought why not see if this one is any good.
The last thing I ordered was the Hourglass Luminous bronzer. I have heard so many people say how wonderful these bronzers are and for the price they should be. While I didn’t buy the full size version opting for the mini it was still a pretty pricey product. But when else is there a better time to buy pricey items than at the Sephora sale.
I honestly thought I was happy with those purchases and wouldn’t really need to make anymore. I don’t know who I thought I was kidding. Knowing there is a sale makes shopping Sephora online more addictive and harder to resist than normal, which if you’re me is pretty hard in the first place.
Order 2: Sephora Collection Brow Builder in Neutral Gray Brown, NARS Wanted Power Pack Lip Kit in Cool Nudes, BeautyBlender beauty blusher, Drunk Elephant Hit it Off Duo, Nudestix Nude Metallics for eyes, Briogeo Don’t Despair Repair! Deep Conditioning Hair Mask, Drunk Elephant Baby Peekee bar and Juju bar (travel set), Kiehls Ultra Facial Toner, Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate (100 point reward).
With my second order I got more products from brands I love whether it was more backup items or products that were new to me. As you can probably tell I love Drunk Elephant products so I thought why not try more of their products. I got the travel size peekee and juju bars thinking these would probably be great to use in the shower. I also got another mini set of the Lala Retro Whipped Moisturizer and the Beste cleanser. I already had a mini Lala moisturizer and have used it all up, but I didn’t want to commit to the full size version since I just got a full size of their Protini moisturizer. Also I have a trip in September that I wanted to be able to take products that are travel size but also ones I love. The only issue I have with this set is that I thought they had changed the packaging of the cleanser but for the mini size they didn’t. I really wanted to try their cleanser but the packaging, more specifically the top have been the reasons I haven’t.
Another backup item was the Briogeo Don’t Despair Repair hair mask. I use this in lieu of conditioner and it has made my hair softer and healthier feeling. Knowing I will be running out of this product soon I decided it would be a good time for a backup.
I always feel the sale is a good time to pick items like beautyblenders. I use them pretty much every time I do my makeup and to me they are one of those items that you can’t have too many of. This time instead of buying a normal size one I thought I’d try their new blusher blender. I wanted something to be able to really blend my under eyes. I considered trying the minis but they looked extra small and also something I could lose easily. With the blusher I thought it might be better being that it’s the middle size between the regular and the mini. A thought that sounds very Goldilocks to me.
So lately I have been a little obsessed with Nudestix eyeshadow sticks. All of the ones I have are matte so when I saw they had a kit of three in metallic finish I immediately added that to this order. If these are like the matte ones I know I’ll be just as obsessed. The other kit I was excited to try was the Nars Wanted Power Lip kit. I have been wanting to try their Powermatte Lip Pigment but have had a hard really biting that bullet because they are a little expensive. This kit comes with two mini size Powermatte Lip Pigments for the less than the price of one regular size lip pigment. They have two sets one being more vibrant colors, a candy apple red and geranium (their description of a bright pink), and the other more nude, a terracotta and tan rose. Typically I don’t go for nude shades but one of the shades was one I had been looking at to buy so it seemed perfect.
I’m almost out of the toner I currently use (belif Bergamot Herbal Extract toner) and thought now would be a good time to buy another one. I really like a lot of belif products but wanted to try something new so I got the Kiehls Ultra Facial toner. I had been looking at some others but was worried about using them with my Drunk Elephant night serum since both contained AHA/BHA. It seemed like it would be too many acids to apply to my skin.
Finally to round out this order I got the Sephora Collection Brow Builder. I want a simple easy way to apply brows without spending crazy amount of time. There are just some days when I need to get out the door and I don’t have the time to spend doing all the hair-like strokes. This seemed like a good product for exactly those days. I also liked that it came in neutral gray brown shade. I have noticed that a lot of brow products that are brown tend to be too warm for me and I end up with red brows.
At this point I honestly thought I was done. I had spent a lot of m
oney got everything I could possibly need, want and more. But after that order I saw an early access to a product that was launching soon, I think it was in the next couple days. And the crafty people at Sephora knew it was something I had been looking for, well more likely just happened to be shown to me after already placing my previous order. So what did I do…
Order 3: Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder
What really made me interested besides already looking for a setting powder was that I hadn’t heard much about it. I know it’s a little weird since I typically wait for some reviews to see if it is something worth purchasing.
With this order I finally showed some restraint and just ordered one thing but still… I went more than crazy ordering way too much. I going try and make sure that I don’t buy anything for at least a little bit. But honestly who knows how that will go. As for now I’m excited to start trying out some these new products.
The best part about having three different orders is all the samples so of course I couldn’t leave them out!
